Shambhala teachings are based on the vision that every human being has a natural source of innate wakefulness that we can discover, cultivate and express in our life.

This path is ideal for anyone seeking to develop a regular meditation practice and cultivate a healthier and more loving relationship with themselves. This training is part of a series of contemplative, practice intensives that are accessible and direct for beginning meditators, while at the same time being deeply profound and rich for experienced meditators. With this approach, we joyfully practice together as a community that can benefit people of any spiritual tradition and way of life.

The Art of Being Human is offered for free this year to help our Milwaukee community go deeply into mindfulness-awareness meditation practice, emphasizing the development of genuineness, confidence, humor, and dignity within the complexity of daily life. This daylong city retreat will include guided meditation instruction, periods of both sitting and walking meditation, talks, silent periods, and group discussions. Join us!

This program is offered free, but donations are welcome. Please register below; this helps us to plan a supportive experience for everyone and to communicate helpful information to you.

Please email [email protected] with questions.

This program will be led by Alan Anderson, longtime meditation teacher, even longer-time meditation student, co-founder of Windhorse Retreat Center, and award-winning author of When Bad Lands: How Not to Numb Out, Freak Out, or Bottom Out—Buddhist Style.
