This class will explore the bodhicitta practices for arousing compassion and waking-up our hearts, the core disciplines of the Mahayana journey.

This class is open to everyone, but it is specifically recommended for those considering taking the Bodhisattva Vow with Acharya Richard John (the ceremony will be at 5:30pm on Sunday, December 3rd).  The Bodhisattva Vow is open to anyone who took the Refuge Vows at least 6 months ago and has a supportive recommendation from one’s meditation instructor. Having taken the Refuge Vows and entered into the path of the dharma, we can expand and deepen our commitment by taking the Bodhisattva Vow.  With the Bodhisattva Vow, we dedicate ourselves and all that we do for the benefit of all sentient beings

The Bodhisattva Vow Sourcebook, a complementary guide to this class, will be available for purchase at the class for $25, or you may wish to borrow one from a friend. If you take the Bodhisattva Vow, you will also need to purchase the Bodhisattva Vow and Practice liturgy. The cost is $18 for the liturgy and shipping, and you will receive the liturgy at the Bodhisattva Vow ceremony. You will also need to have a brief interview with Acharya John before the day of the vow ceremony that you will be scheduled for according to your availability.

About Acharya Richard John

An early student of Chogyam Trungpa, Rinpoche, Archarya Richard John was appointed an acharya by Sakyong Mipham, Rinpoche.  For many years he has taught Shambhala Buddhist programs in the Americas, New Zealand, Australia, Mexico and Chile. He has served as Director of the Halifax Shambhala Centre. He completed the first Three-Year Group Retreat at Gampo Abbey, and now teaches full-time.  Richard and his wife Liz reside in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
